It is good when life is on high, right? That moment where everything seems to be going good. However, there are times when well you literally stare at a computer all day and realize you put 3 words to the screen. You hit a brick wall, a blank time in space where just don’t have it. What do you do? Do you take a walk, read a book, or do you give up?
No you don’t give up. You take a step back. You take a brisk walk or sit out in the backyard and watch your fur babies run about. You know hitting road blocks is just part of the process. It helps your mind take a much needed break. Gives you that opportunity to refocus. A phrase I like to say often. Refocus! Here are a few tips that works for me.
#1 Step away, take a break. When we are so focused on a project, we tend to get lost in it. We often times forget there is daily life moving around us. Physically getting up and putting down the laptop, pen and paper to walk away. Keep this in mind as you start that new adventure, you can always step back and refocus if things aren’t coming out properly.
#2 Find inspiration. This is one of my favorite aspects of being a photographer. This allows me to travel and find inspiration in all that you experience. So if you are a writer, speaker, or a blogger the inspiration is there. You just need to open those gorgeous eyes and take in the scenery. It could be you love food and a good glass of red wine, which can be helpful in opening your senses to a new idea. Right?
#3 Start something new by circling back around to why you went blank. Be intentional on what takes up your time. Let your soul burn for a new journey! If your block is just not opening, it maybe that particular path is just not for you. It would also mean there is another path just waiting for you over the mountain top. So I suggest get to climbing and open those doors. Enjoy the adventure!
These are just a few tips and tricks I use to break through a block. Once you crack it stay focused and create ways to keep in focus. This for sure can open your soul to a whole new world.
